GoldRateUAE records the yesterday gold rate in Dubai every day, so you can see at a glance whether prices went up or down overnight. All figures are world market prices per gram; the Gold Souk board rate adds a small retail margin.

Most shoppers check yesterday’s price for one reason: to decide whether to buy now or wait. A small move of one or two dirhams per gram rarely matters on a single ring, but it adds up on a heavy bridal set.

Daily 24K world market price in AED per gram, recorded by GoldRateUAE; other karats by purity. Weekend days repeat Friday's close because the market is shut.

Saturday and Sunday usually show the same figure as Friday, because the world gold market closes from early Saturday to early Monday UAE time. The first real change of the week appears on Monday.

Why Does the Gold Rate Change From Yesterday?

The Dubai rate follows the world price of gold, which trades around the clock on weekdays. The dirham is pegged to the US dollar, so any move in the dollar price of gold passes straight into the dirham price.

The biggest daily moves usually happen during London and New York trading hours, from late morning to late evening in the UAE. News on US interest rates, inflation and the dollar often triggers the sharpest changes.

Our guide on what affects the gold price in the UAE explains each of these drivers in more detail.

Should You Buy Today If the Rate Rose Since Yesterday?

A single day’s move says little about the next day. Gold can rise three days in a row and then fall, so chasing yesterday’s price often leads to waiting too long.

A better approach is to set a budget and a target weight, then compare shops on the making charge, which can easily be worth more than a day’s price move. If you are flexible, buying in two or three smaller amounts spreads the risk.

How Much Can the Gold Rate Change in One Day?

On a normal day the 24K rate in Dubai moves by a few dirhams per gram. On days with major US economic news, moves of ten dirhams or more per gram are possible.

At current prices, a 1% move is about AED 5 per gram for 24K. On a 50 gram set, that is roughly AED 250, which is why large buyers watch the daily change closely.

For the last month, our gold price chart for the UAE shows the daily line. For yearly averages going back to 2000, see the gold rate history in Dubai.

Before you buy, always check the live gold rate in Dubai today and ask for the making charge in writing.

How Do You Read the Change Column?

A plus sign means the price rose since yesterday, and a minus sign means it fell. The first number is the change in dirhams per gram and the figure in brackets is the change in percent.

The percent is the same for every karat, because 22K, 21K and 18K are all priced as a share of the 24K rate. The dirham change is smaller for lower karats, since they contain less gold per gram.

To see what the move means for your purchase, multiply the dirham change by the weight you plan to buy. A change of AED 3 per gram on a 20 gram necklace is AED 60 before making charges and VAT.

Is a Week Ago a Better Comparison Than Yesterday?

For most buyers, yes. One day can be noisy, while the 10 day table above shows whether the price is drifting up, drifting down or moving sideways.

If the latest price sits near the bottom of the last 10 days, it is a relatively good moment within that short window. That still says nothing certain about tomorrow, so treat it as a guide rather than a signal.
